Welcome Week at the George Washington University provides opportunities for students to connect, build relationships, learn about resources, and build a community at GW. Welcome Week events showcase the many resources GW has to offer for academic success and features opportunities for involvement at the Mount Vernon Campus, in the performing arts, sustainability activities, multicultural student services, international student activities, student organizations, and more.

 

Welcome Week 2019 starts August 25 and concludes on September 1, but there are even more events to look forward to in September that are also included on this page. WELCOME WEEK KICK-OFF EVENT!

This annual event welcomes all new and returning students to campus with a variety of fun carnival games and activities, FREE food, prizes and giveaways, and lots of fun. There is no better way to celebrate being back on campus than hanging out with your friends and making new ones at First Night. Rain location: Smith Center

6.13.89 will present viewers with an unvarnished look at the Corcoran’s decision to cancel the show, presenting archival materials never before seen by the public and sourced from the Corcoran Archives at George Washington University’s Gelman Library.

With this mixed-media installation, Kelli Rae Adams calls attention to the magnitude and urgency of the student debt crisis in the U.S. Utilizing several hundred handmade ceramic bowls, a quantity of steadily accumulating coins and a wall-hanging triptych composed of dollar bills, Adams renders legible the physical volume of this collective burden while also shining light on the insidious practical and psychological implications of educational debt.

Gallery 102 presents Yacine Fall. Fresh off her acclaimed performance at NEXT 2019, Fall further investigates the limits of labor, the human body, and its relationship to history.
