Transfer Students

CSE is committed to serving the needs of students who transfer to GW by cultivating a sense of belonging, connecting students to academic resources, assisting students in building personal and professional networks, and supporting students in their progress toward graduation.

CSE provides several resources specifically including the following:

  • Transfers Connect- A welcome event hosted by the CSE, exclusive to Transfer Students. Come meet fellow transfer students, both incoming and previously transferred alike. Connect with offices and student organizations that can support and assist you while you're here at GW. Refreshments will be served so at the very least come for a free cookie and stay for the connections that will help you succeed as a Colonial!
  • Transfer Outings- Do you want to explore and get to know your new home? Want to get out and enjoy DC? Consider attending a Transfer Outing! Planned and hosted by TEAM mentors Transfer Outings are open to all transfer students. Held once a month, typically on a Saturday these outings are focused on fun and exploration, and bonus-you get to meet other transfer students!
  • TEAM (Transfer Engagement and Acclimation Mentorship) Program - The TEAM program relies on a group of returning transfer students to guide new transfer students through their first semester at GW.  TEAM focuses on sharing resources, building social networks, and helping students take advantage of the unique opportunities afforded to GW students.
  • Transfer Adventure Bound- Join TRAiLS on a overnight trip during the beginning of the school year to bound with fellow transfer students! (Registration coming soon!)

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions also provides a Transfer Student Checklist to assist transfer students with their transition to GW.

Once you have arrived to GW, the Center for Student Engagement also encourages transfer students to complete the following activities during their first year at GW:
