Manage Your Organization

The Student Organization Staff Advisor Team, directed by the Center for Student Engagement and comprised of staff advisors from departments across the University, strives to provide support that contributes to the success of each registered student organization, its leaders, and its members.

Individualized Advising Model

Beginning in August 2018, the Center for Student Engagement transitioned to an individualized model of advising. This model represents a shift to a model grounded in continuous evaluation that prioritizes access, efficiency, and development for a large and diverse population of student organizations. Organiztions will be evaluated based on a variety of factors and will receive support according to their individualized needs.

All student organizations will have full access to the Student Organization Resource Desk, [email protected], the Excellence in Leadership Seminar, and online guides. In addition to these resources, some organizations will be assigned a specific staff advisor based upon criteria such as levels of spending and programming.

Who is my staff advisor? You can view your organization's staff advisor assignment in your organization's profile within OrgSync - if your group does not have an assigned staff adviors, the name will read "Staff Advisor Team." This means that your organization should seek support from the Student Organization Resource Desk and [email protected]. These modes of support are staffed and monitored on a daily basis (Mon-Fri) by a large team of trained staff advisors and are designed to increase access to quality support and efficiency of service. Org Requirements

  1. Fall Orientation Meeting With Advisor - by September 30
  2. Five Excellence in Leadership Seminar Sessions - by mid-March

All student organizations must complete five Excellence in Leadership Seminar training sessions by mid-March in order to remain a registered student organization. Additionally, all organizations must attend a fall orientation meeting with an advisor – organizations assigned a staff advisor should schedule time with that staff member; organizations that do not have a staff advisor can drop by the Student Organization Resource Desk to meet with an advisor. As you may know, this meeting serves as an orientation to the available resources and provide information about policies and processes that are critical to every organization. The meeting must be completed by September 30.
