The Division of Student Affairs operates a 24/7 Administrator-on-Call system for after-hours response to students in crisis, campus emergencies, and situations that potentially compromise the health and safety of students. Staff that serve in the on-call rotation provide emergency response after business hours to support on-campus and residential student communities, and include an Administrator on-Call, Director on-Call, Dean on-Call, and Counselor on-Call.
Any student in crisis or experiencing an emergency should immediately notify the George Washington University Police Department (GWPD) at (202) 994-6111.
The focus of response efforts are to provide students with immediate access to essential resources and to coordinate follow-up with appropriate departments the following business day. The administrators on call work closely with campus partners including the George Washington University Police Department, Facilities Services, GW Housing, Medical Services and Mental Health Services as needed.
Mental Health Services provides students 24/7 consultation with a professional counselor. To speak to a counselor, students can call Mental Health Services at (202) 994-5300 option 2.
Medical Services provides 24/7 medical advice to GW students with an after-hours clinician hotline. For consultation, call (202) 994-5300 and press option 1 to speak with the after hours clinician.
If there is not an immediate concern requiring notification of GWPD or if you are concerned about a student, the Division of Student Affairs encourages community members to submit a CARE Network report.
